Dr. Emmy Lou Sund joined the team at Shelter Island Veterinary hospital in February 2008. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The University of Dallas, and is a 2006 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She and her husband have recently moved from California's Mojave desert where she practiced small animal medicine for 3 years. Dr. Sund's areas of special interest include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and emergency medicine. After having grown up on a Kansas dairy farm, Dr. Sund finds San Diego's weather and beautiful beaches a perfect place to live. Her husband Chad is a Marine fighter pilot and together they have a one year old son named Abraham. She has a pet duck named Hercules and has recently adopted a 9-year old Toy Poodle named Iki after his owner was no longer able to care for him. During her free time she enjoys tide-pooling, sand castle building, boogie boarding, walking, and jogging with her family.
